TY - JOUR T1 - Pollination of Kadsura longipedunculata (Schisandraceae), a monoecious basal angiosperm, by female, pollen-eating Megommata sp (Cecidomyiidae : Diptera) in China JF - Biological Journal of the Linnean Society Y1 - 2008 A1 - Yuan, Liang-Chen A1 - Luo, Yi-Bo A1 - Thien, Leonard B. A1 - Fan, Jian-Hua A1 - Xu, Huan-Li A1 - Yukawa, Junichi A1 - Chen, Zhi-Duan SP - 523 EP - 536 AB - The plants of Kadsura longipedunculata (Schisandraceae) are monoecious and possess either red or yellow male flowers (the androecium), with yellow tepals, and yellow female flowers. All flower types simultaneously produce heat and floral odours (dominated by methyl butyrate) throughout a 4-5-h nocturnal period. The flowers are pollinated only by female, pollen-eating Megommata sp. (Cecidomyiidae). Pollen is the only reward, and female flowers use the same attractants as male flowers but offer no food (pollination by deceit). Open pollinated flowers in nature varied in fruit set from 8 to 92%. Megommata (subfamily Cecidomyiinae, supertribe Cecidomyiidi), consists of six described species, which feed on Coccoidea (scale insects) and are distributed worldwide L2 - 43876 L3 - 44412 VL - 93 UR - http://www.online-keys.net/sciaroidea/add01/Yuan_et_al_2008_cecid_pollination.pdf CP - 3 ER - TY - JOUR T1 - Cecidomyiidae, Sciaridae (Diptera), and other galling insects than Cecidomyiidae, inhabiting Fukiage-Gyoen, the Imperial Palace, Tokyo JF - Memoirs of the National Science Museum (Tokyo) Y1 - 2000 A1 - Yukawa, Junichi A1 - Jaschhof, Mathias A1 - Tokuda, Makoto A1 - Abe, Junichiro SP - 373 EP - 379 KW - Cecidomyiinae KW - checklist KW - Diptera KW - Honshu KW - Imperial Palace KW - Insecta KW - Japan KW - Lestremiinae KW - Lithocarpus edulis KW - Mecysolobus piceus KW - Plant hosts KW - Sciaridae KW - Tokyo L2 - 26764 L3 - 26995 VL - 36 ER -
