Abstract: | Three new species of Boletina Staeger fungus gnats were discovered during the first collection season in a forest of jack pine (Pinus banksiana Lambert) and white pine (Pinus strobus L.) in the western Lower Peninsula of Michigan. None was observed during almost 10 years of trapping in a nearby swamp dominated by deciduous rather than evergreen trees despite separation of the habitats by less than 1 km. Boletina peninsula Taber belongs to the Boletina nitida Grzegorzek species group. The closest relatives of Boletina autumna Taber and Boletina ursa Taber have not been determined. |
